The St Vincent de Paul Society is present in over 150 countries, with 800,000 members and 1,500,000 volunteers. Every day it helps over 30 million people worldwide.

Our mission is to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

The St Vincent de Paul Society (England and Wales) – SVP – works in communities across England and Wales, offering support to people facing poverty in all its forms, friendship when loneliness seems inevitable, and kindness when the world feels unfair. Practical support can include helping with the cost of food, clothing, furniture or transport. We assist those in need, regardless of their faith, with services ranging from befriending and visiting the lonely to helping families build brighter futures or settle into a new community. We don’t offer legal or financial advice but may be able to put someone in touch with organisations who can.

St Mary’s Parish has a thriving SVP group (known as a conference) who give help to people living in our neighbourhood. There has been an SVP conference in St Mary’s parish since 1907!

Alternatively, you may wish to join our conference and help to be Christ’s hands, feet, ears and heart in the world today. As a volunteer member, you would be instrumental in the SVP realising our mission. You would be made most welcome, no matter how much time you have to give.
